STORY BEHIND THE WINE

Vega Sicilia is legendary, Spain’s most iconic wine estate, established in 1864 when Don Eloy Lecanda, having trained as a winemaker in Bordeaux returned to Castille and planted varieties he had brought back with him, alongside the local hero, Tempranillo. Valbuena, is the purest expression of Tempranillo in Vega Sicilia. It is aged for five years between barrel and bottle, giving rise to the wine's name: Valbuena 5º. Blended with a small portion of Merlot, depending on the vintage, the wines show great harmony between elegance, complexity and concentration.
