The Schiava grapes used in this wine are between 60 and 90 years old producing lower and higher quality yields. Ageing in large Slavonian wooden barrels result in a wine with complex red fruit aromas of raspberries, wild strawberries, cherries and redcurrants.. Elegant fine-grained tannins and a smooth fruitiness delivers a balanced and long, vigorous finish.
Influenced by both the Alps and the Mediterranean, as a wine growing region Alto Adige has a lot going for it. The warm days allow for optimum ripening whilst cool nights retain freshness in the grapes. The village of Kurtatsch, is exceptionally fortunate in terms of its terroir, boasting a diverse array of soils ideally suited to both indigenous and international grape varieties.
