    Story Behind This Wine

Château Haut Meyreau, founded in 1802 on a modest five-hectare site, has grown and evolved over the years, expanding to over 100 hectares of vineyards in the Entre-Deux-Mers region. The estate is located in Dardenac, a village with a long history and rich terroir, steeped in wine-making traditions.

A testament to the estate's diversity and the potential of its terroir is its ability to age both Entre-Deux-Mers and Bordeaux reds for 18 months in French oak barrels.

The estate's range of grape varieties includes Merlot and Cabernet Franc for the reds, Sauvignon and Sémillon for the whites, as well as the reintroduction of Malbec and Muscadelle.

    • 100% Cabernet Franc
    • High Environmental Value certification
    • Appelation Bordeaux Controlée
    • Exclusively and Directly Imported

Vinified alone, Cabernet Franc produces wines that are well-balanced and fresh. Known, particularly in the Loire region, for its notes of bell pepper, which are rarely found when harvested at maturity as here, with aromas closer to red fruits.

Less tannic and less colored than Cabernet Sauvignon, it is a low-acidic grape variety, which allows it to evolve fairly quickly while maintaining itself over time. It is no wonder that it is present in the blend of many prestigious Bordeaux wines that are meant for aging.
