STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
Vía Arxéntea situated in the DO Monterrei in Galicia, north west Spain. It is a little known DO that was established in the 1980s. Its the smallest of the Galician DOs and it has the warmest and driest climate in the region. Most of the vineyards , Vía Arxéntea has 4 hectares in total, are located on valley slopes either side of the River Tamega where the soils have a deep red colour and a high clay content. The name “Via Arxentea”, literally translates as “ The Silver Route”, the local name for the important pilgrimage route of El Camino de Santiago to Santiago de Compostela.
Not reviewed by the international wine media yet, hardly surprising given the small size of this winery. But we have found this to be a very consistent wine with a lovely balance of stone fruit flavours and citrus verve. A great example of good quality modern Spanish white wine.
