Complex and enticing red from Spanish powerhouse

Intense and full-bodied with primary dark fruit flavours of blackcurrant and cherries. Juicy and smooth with deep earthy notes and well-polished tannins. From the oak ageing you get vanilla, cedar, coffee and undertones of tar as well as some fruitcake spiciness. A wine of great depth and character.

STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

Ribera Del Duero’s Vega Sicilia lay claim to being Spain’s greatest wine producer. This estate made its name by producing concentrated wines built for extended ageing. While Alión retains all the depth and personality of their most long-lived releases, it is also designed to be drinkable in its youth. Aged for 14 months in new French oak, Alión is considered one of the purest expressions of Ribera Del Duero Tempranillo. It is also one of the reasons Vega Sicilia are regarded as the Spanish equivalent of a Bordeaux 1st growth.
