STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
This is a substantial Gevrey Chambertin Domaine with 12 hectares that include some of the finest premiers and grands crus in the village. Previously Chantal Tortochot’s father Gabriel sold most of his fruit to the famous Beaune négociant, Joseph Drouhin. Since taking over in 2001 Chantal has been carefully and surely building the domaine’s name and reputation around the world. In 2013 the estate became organically certified. Chantal favours early bottling to capture the fruit purity.
Beautiful & youthful, fresh strawberries and red cherry, there is a perfumed purity to this powerful floral complex nose. Already assurred in terms of a strong graceful identity; this old vine Gevrey-Chambertin is drinking superbly well at present, and has a great aging potential. Decanting will certainly help this wine show its best. Blended with grapes sourced from various parcels within the Tortochot Domaine; 80% Villages level, 10% Premier Cru & 10% Grand Cru.
Aged 12 to 18 months in French oak barrel.
