Why Buy Me
Alvaro Palacios is from the original family of Rioja wine producers. He has now established his own winery in Priorat and this winery with his nephew, Ricardo Perez, in Bierzo. This wine comes from 60-year-old vines.
An intensely concentrated wine full of red plums, cherries and spice with hints of violets. The palate is very fruity and ripe with red cherry, plum with touches of dark chocolate and minerality. A long, velvety finish.

92 Points Decanter, Aug 2021: "In its combination of violet floral-fragrant prettiness, silkiness of texture and the slight crunchiness of blackcurrant fruit with graphite, Alvaro Palacios’ entry-level Bierzo Mencía invites comparisons with Malbec and Cabernet Franc at their most graceful. However, it’s very much its own compulsively drinkable thing."
