Textured dry white called the Chablis of Spain
This organic, vegan-friendly white wine has been called the Chablis of Spain. It is made from Xarel-lo grapes harvested from 45-year-old vines. Young and fruity in conception, the nose is very perfumed, powerful, with hints of aromatic herbs such as green fennel. STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
The Montrubí estate, which is located in the Penedès region of Catalonia, was founded in 1984 by the Peris family. Their vision was to craft unique terroir wines using local grape varieties such as Xarel-lo, Sumoll and Garnacha while subscribing to an organic winemaking philosophy.
The bodega and vineyards are situated in an area over 2,000 feet above sea level just 60 kilometres west of Barcelona. MontRubí was named in honour of the 19th century property in L’Avellà town that the Peris family refurbished to house the winery.
The philosophy at MontRubí is one of traditional viticulture; sustainable and environmentally friendly, albeit with a simultaneous commitment to innovation.
