Since 2020 both Red and Rubicon are produced together, with the Red considered a ‘second label’ wine.

The Estate Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, with a small amount of Petit Verdot in certain vintages. Every parcel of each variety was fermented separately before undergoing malolactic fermentation in 300 L barrels and large Foudres. After 8 months in oak, the components were blended and given another 8 months in barrel for harmonisation before bottling.

Browse our Stellenbosch Collection

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0353/6859/9683/files/meerlust-estate-red-stellenbosch-whelehans-wines-dublin-winestore.jpg?v=1791290021
