Superb Left-Bank Bordeaux with unique combination of subtlety and power

Expressive and vibrant with lush cassis, tar and herbal aromas. On the palate you get blackberries, baked cherries, figs, cedar and bay leaf supported by ample tannins. Full-bodied, darkly crimson hued and a graphite-tinged finish. Deeply dense and superb.

STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

Being a member of the original 1855 Bordeaux Classification comes with the heavy weight of history and prestige not to mention price-tags out of reach of many wine lovers. Pichon Barons response to this has been to create 2nd wines that retains all their expertise and know-how. This gives the advantage of them being more approachable in both their youth and your pocket. The 2016 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Merlot matured in 60% new oak. With 2016 being a stellar vintage in Pauillac this is a wine that trumps many estates Grand Vin.
