Why Buy Me

Family owned, Leeuwin Estate is one of the 5 founding wineries of the world renowned Margaret River district of Western Australia. In 1972, legendary Napa Valley winemaker Robert Mondavi convinced Denis & Tricia Horgan to invest and plant the 50 hectares of land. The coastal location of the winery lends a restrained & complex style to the wines, similar to Bordeaux.
While Margaret River is best known for Cabernet Sauvignon & Sauvignon/Semillon blends, Leeuwin Estate is famous for its Chardonnay, with its Art Series Chardonnay regarded as one of the top 3 in Australia.

Winemaker's Pitch

Buttery and complex, the 2018 vintage exhibits a delicate balance of fruit & oak. While it is “lighter and more forward drinking than its famous big brother the Art Series Chardonnay it has become a stand alone hero Margaret River Chardonnay in its own right” Matthew Jukes

“Fragrant, with peppery white flower notes and orange zest details to the intense and juicy core of apricot and guava flavors. The refreshing finish showcases generous acidity and hints of lime juice. Drink now through 2029.” Mary Anne Worobiec, Wine Spectator October 2019.

“Leeuwin Estate has the game sewn up with this entry point wine. It's so precise, so balanced, so pure. The distinction between fruit and oak is impossible to gauge, the length magical.” 96 points. 96 Points, James Halliday

“There’s a punchy, confident appeal to this chardonnay, which has a rich peach, lemon-curd and toasted-hazelnut nose with acute freshness and fruit intensity. The palate unfurls plenty of flavorsome, ripe stone-fruit flesh and then zips taut with bracing acidity on the mouthwatering finish. Drink over the next five years.” 93 points. James Suckling March 2020
