A well balanced oaked Chardonnay

The vines are situated behind Domaine Roulot in Meursault. Clear pale colour. A pure clean and stylish mini-Meursault, with some sweetness of fruit in this ripe year, and impeccable length. Even quite lively at the finish. Ripe apple notes follow with persistency.

Cellaring: Drink now or in 5 years

Food Pairing: Shellfish or Seafood

"David Whelehan has an unerring nose for wines that punch way above their AOC and this is a fantastic example. Domaine Latour-Giraud is in Meursault and this Bourgogne Blanc is made with same care and attention as their top wines. Indeed, in a blind tasting it might well be confused for one, and its streets ahead of many actual Meursaults from the big négociants. Jean-Pierre Latour (no relation of Louis) is noted as one of the great Chardonnay producers in the Côte dOr." Tom Doorley, The Irish Mail on Sunday, 05/12/21

STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

The Giraud family established itself for a long time in Côte dOr, had founded a distilling at the Hospital of Meursault about 1845. This distilling functioned until 1914, producing Fine of Burgundy, of the Marc of Burgundy, as well as famous Cassis of Burgundy. The union of the two Fields occurs in 1958 after the marriage of the children of the two families.
