Archetypal expression from the oldest known Shiraz vines in the world

Deep crimson in colour, full-bodied and intensely aromatic. Concentrated aromas of dark chocolate, black olives, mocha, vanilla combine with hints of cedar and sweet spices. On the palate, liquorice and espresso mingle against a backbone of dark fruits including black cherries, satsuma plums and cassis. Silky, opulent tannins on show are all rounded off with a lush and lengthy finish.

STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

Drink Langmeil’s signature Freedom 1843 Shiraz and you are drinking a piece of history. The vines that contribute to this Shiraz come from a small 1.5 hectare plot christened “The Freedom Vineyard”. These are known to be amongst the oldest surviving Shiraz wines in the world and where the 1843 on the label comes from. As if that wasn’t enough, the owners of the vineyard (The Lindner Family) have 6 generations of experience in wine and farming to call upon. This is one of the wines that put Barossa on the map of every wine-lover's imagination. Renowned Australia wine critic James Halliday called this “ a wine you should kneel in the presence of”. We’re inclined to agree.
