Rich, earthy and full-bodied red

Opaque in darkly purple with an earthy nose of ripe red and black berries. Full-bodied on the palate underlain with subtle wooded flavours. On the palate you get flavours of black cherry, blueberry and cassis interplaying with vanilla, cedar and smoky leather notes. Tannins are firm but polished and compliment the long, mineral finish. STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

Tannat and Cabernet grape varieties are native to Madiran in South-West France and they form natural sparing partners in rich, robust blends. But this is a wine more about the producer than the grape. Christine Dupuy of Domaine Labranche-Laffont is the proverbial force of nature. She started out as the youngest winemaker in the region and is now regularly cited as one of its greatest producers. In a region with a distinct wine-identity, Christine is one if its standout performers
