World class Hawkes Bay star producers Kumeu River have launched a new exceptional Chardonnay. Hand-harvested, whole bunch pressed and fermented with wild yeast in older French Oak barrels to give a wine that is zesty and fragrant, with mineral complexity that is very true to its site.
Served blind one could be forgiven for concluding this is a fine white Burgundy. There are all the hallmarks of toasted hazelnuts, butter tones, honey lean acidity etc present and correct. Rounded to the point of sculpted, this is a beautiful wine of poise balance intensity and depth. A mini-Montrachet if you will.
