Why Buy Me
A highly regarded family run domaine centred in Santenay run by Jean-Marc and Anne-Marie Vincent whose careful work in the vineyards and cellar is aimed at making long lasting wines that evolve slowly. They farm a patchwork of small plots organically that were inherited from Jean-Marc’s grandfather and only one of them, the Auxey-Duress stretches to more than two barrels. Planting densities can be as high as an extraordinary 14,000 vines per hectare and work like trimming is done by hand rather than by tractor. Read more.
Fermented in new oak barrels, about 10% new.
A wine that sets a high benchmark for the village with critics universally lauding it as on a par with more famous neighbour Meursault. Jasper Morris MW of insideburgundy.com calls it “One of the great unsung white wines of Burgundy”. 2019 was a warm vintage yet remarkably brought equal levels or ripe fruit and refreshing acidity to the delight of growers. The result here is a wine that opens with aromas of struck flint, backed with ripe peach, Williams pear and hazelnut over a creamy textured palate with a chalky minerality and fresh citrus acidity.
