Goya Garcia Viadero was born into an established wine-making family in Ribera Del Duero. However, inspired by the likes of French natural wine trailblazer Pierre Overnoy from the Jura, he struck out on his own in 2003, creating a raft of natural wines from small plots throughout Ribera Del Duero and Cantabria.
The Finca Los Quemados is produced from a single high elevation (900 metres) vineyard planted entirely with Tempranillo. The vines are around 55 years old. The grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed and fermented with wild yeasts in steel tank with three months of skin maceration, then aged for 12 months in 8-10 year-old French oak barriques. Bottling is without fining, filtration or any addition of SO2.
Aromas of violets and red and black fruits such as cherries, blueberries and blackcurrants. It is sweet, fresh and pleasantly acidic. A balanced wine with a long and persistent finish.
