Dry, precise and aromatic Riesling

Initially charming and then intensely satisfying. Bone dry with a bouquet of stony minerality and zesty lemon citrus. On the palate, the vivacious acidity combines with ripe flavours of lime, white peach and granny smith apple. Well balanced with a delightfully juicy finish.

  • From a highly-rated producer
  • 100% Riesling
  • 40 year old vines

Cellaring: Now to 2025

Food Pairing: Thai fish cakes, halibut w/ fennel, pork belly w/ apple puree

STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

Winemaker Johannes Geil-Bierschenk farms 30 hectares of Riesling in the village of Bechtheim, and is emblematic of the new generation of winemakers in the Rheinhessen region of Germany. So much so that back in 2013 he was awarded the title of “Best Dry Riesling Producer” for the region. Dry, expressive and aromatic, his Riesling is considered a benchmark for the price range. This is achieved via a combination of old vines, lower yields and a quality rather than quantity-first approach. To Johannes, aroma is the most important characteristic of his wines. So if you do get a chance to open a bottle, make sure you take time out to savour the bouquet.
