STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

Christian Voeux is among the most renowned winemakers in the Southern Rhone Valley having spent 24 years as cellar master at the prestigious Château Mont-Redon in Châteauneuf du Pape and a further eight years as general manager at another leading estate, Château La Nerthe.
He retired to his family estate, Domaine de l’Amauve in Séguret, which he inherited from his parents and continuous to make wine with his wife Monique and son Nicolas. The estate is certified organic and comprises a patchwork of 11ha spread over 25 plots. Spread across so many vineyards the soils are invariably diverse, but they include limestone, gravel, clay and marl. The estate takes its name from the mallow flower. In spring the flower is in abundance around the vineyard releasing discrete floral flavours. The wines are certified organic so the use of sulphur is limited and fermentation is by naturally occurring yeasts. Red wines are not fined and some cuvées are unfiltered.
