In 2000, the reins of Domaine Jean-Baptiste Ponsot were taken up by the 20-year-old Jean-Baptiste himself. The family enterprise, initiated by the grandfather in 1954, now boasts vineyards in the finest terroirs of the appellation, predominantly consisting of two-thirds Rully 1er Cru. While adhering to organic practices in the vineyard, certification has not been actively pursued. In 2005, Jean-Baptiste erected a state-of-the-art winery. The wines undergo a 12-month maturation period in barrels (with 30% new oak), followed by a 3 to 6-month blending phase in tanks to preserve optimal freshness. Swiftly, Jean-Baptiste garnered local and international acclaim.
