STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
The Grattamacco estate was founded in 1977. It is located in the coastal Tuscan region of Maremma. The average age of the vineyard is 25 years. ColleMassari was voted winery of the year in 2014 by Gambero Rosso, Italy’s world-famous food and wine guide book.
The nose is a combo of dark fruits and chocolate with notes of plum and black currants, elegant and full with a fresh balsamic finish given by the Sangiovese. A dense and powerful wine with ripe tannins, juicy and rich with a striking structure.
"A blend of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 15% Sangiovese and 5% Petit Verdot, the Grattamacco 2020 Bolgheri Rosso shows nice elegance over a tight and streamlined body. It is redolent of black fruit, plum and cherry with mild shadings of spice at the back (it sees a brief eight months in mostly neutral oak)." Drink 2022 – 2028 Parker 92 points July 2022
“The 2020 Bolgheri Rosso is an absolutely gorgeous wine that overdelivers in its peer group. Silky, layered and light on its feet, the Rosso is superb. Hints of blueberry, menthol, licorice, pine and cinnamon all grace this attractive, stylish offering.” Antonio Galloni, Vinous 91 points July 2022
