Robert Parker 87 Points
"Medium garnet-purple, the 2016 Bellegrave (Pomerol) is scented of cherries, kirsch, mulberries and plums with tobacco and underbrush notions. Medium-bodied and chewy in the mouth, it's a little lean on fruit."
Jancis Robinson 17.5 Points
"Pure, clean, refreshing Pomerol in Vieux Château Certan style. Impressively refreshing and concentrated."
Why Buy Me
Jean-Marie Bouldy can produce great Pomerol from his gravel-based vineyard. The 2016 Bellegrave has a straightforward bouquet with black cherries, boysenberry and light marine/seaweed aromas, marrying a little Left Bank austerity into the opulence of Pomerol. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannin, well judged acidity, clean and pure in the mouth though to quibble, it requires a touch more complexity to develop on the finish. I suspect this will improve by the time of bottling.
