STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
The 70 hectare, Left Bank vineyard has a terroir that consists of gravel with patches of clay and limestone in the soil. Located only 6 kilometers north of Chateau Calon Segur, part of what makes the soils of Potensac unique is the limestone deposits, which in some parcels, is similar to what you find in St. Emilion. The wines of Potensac are structured, firm and often display an austere quality, especially in their youth. So they need age to soften, or at the very least decanting a few hours in advance. Chateau Potensac is the perfect wine for fans of old school, classic Bordeaux wine making.
Inky core with purple rim. Such beautifully pure black fruit. Such fine texture and so juicy and lively. Absolutely delicious and fresh with no heaviness and no sense of the alcohol. Low pH because of the terroir, says Pierre Graffeux. They picked the Merlot early and spread out the picking for the Cabernet Sauvignon. Silky finesse and freshness. Lovely wine with a red-fruited brightness and persistence. 17/20 Points Jancis Robinson
Aged 16 Months Old oak.
