Savoury left-bank Bordeaux now in its ideal drinking window

This has developed nicely into a smooth, easy-drinking wine while still retaining a sense of freshness and complexity. Medium-bodied with pleasant black fruit and mild spice aromas. Alongside a core of blackberry and cassis you get well-layered flavours of tobacco, cedar and dried underbrush all rounded off nicely by a savoury afterglow

STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

Château Camino-Salva is linked to the noted Cru Bourgeois Château du Retout (which we also stock) and benefits from the same care and attention. Run by the Kopp family since they took it over as a derelict vineyard in the 50s it is now practically self-sufficient with everything apart from the cork produced on site. The vines here are on average 35 year sold and represent the classic left-bank mix with 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot. The vineyards lie just slightly north of Margaux and like their illustrious neighbour produce wines that are noted for their aromatics, elegance and finesse
