STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
In 1976, in what is now memorialized as “The Judgment of Paris”, Chateau Montelena Napa Valley Chardonnay was the top-ranking wine against four white Burgundies and five other California Chardonnays in a blind tasting with a who’s-who of the french food and wine industry judging. And as they say, the rest is history.
This wine is one of the few Californian Chardonnays that behaves like a Grand Cru Chablis. It exhibits a nervous edge as well as loads of lemon butter, green apple and white currant-like characteristics. Its laser-like precision, superb acidity and surprising intensity as well as richness make this wine a must-have!
