Paolo de Marchi and his wife Marta run the family estate in the heart of Chianti. Paolo comes from a family with three generations of experience winemaking in Piedmont. Isole e Olena has 49 hectares of vines, the oldest of which were planted in 1958. Paolo was one of the first producers to plant new lower yielding clones of Sangiovese, which produce better grapes and therefore better wines.
17.5 Points Jancis Robinson "Mid crimson. Stony, saline nose of cherry fruit. Elegant, sappy sweet red fruit with a layer of powdery tannins. Its freshness is impressive for this torrid vintage." Jancis Robinson, Feb 2020
