"A glowing mid purple, much more density than Pitures as more clay in the soil. Impressive energy on the nose. This is gorgeous, with a supple but concentrated expression of red berry fruit which fills the palate and covers any tannins at the finish. Very typical Volnay with more presence this year than I can remember. Best they have ever made? I certainly cannot remember a more impressive Mitans".

Food Pairing: Poultry, game birds, and both white and red meats. Sophisticated dishes like roast poultry, game birds (like capon or guinea fowl), and slow-cooked stews such as pot-au-feu or beef bourguignon are excellent choices. Also pairs well with strong cheeses like Camembert, Brie, or even Epoisses, especially when the wine has had some time to age and develop earthy notes | 🌡️ Serve between 15-16°C

STORY BEHIND THE WINE

This wine originates from the town of Volnay, just south of Beaune and is a neighbour of Pommard. The vineyard is located in the middle of the hillside between Volnay and the main road "D974" Beaune - Châlon-sur-Saône, hence its name, in Old French "Mitan" meaning "middle".

A Lusciously Fresh Pick me Up

The incredible alchemy of grape blends! The garganega and trebbiano do something wonderful together resulting in a lusciously, flavoursome wine with a long finish that is zippily fresh without being too tart. Quite the best Italian white I have tasted in a very long time. Highly recommend.

Fabulous Cote du Py Beaujolais from a great producer.
Improves if opened well before drinking.
Great balance of fruit, acidity and tannin.
Hint of oak adds to the complexity.
Available from other sources at a much cheaper price.
I have been to this beautiful wine shop and told them of their price differences but to no avail.
Must be the location.
