Why Buy Me
A Vino de Villa wine from Valtuille de Abajo, one of Jose Antiono García’s oldest mencía vineyards from their home village with mixed alluvial and clay soils with a wide variety of stones planted at 550m altitude. With most vines planted before the industrialization of Spanish Wine, it provides a glimpse on how wines used to be before the modern clones. Wines are made almost with no intervention, minimal sulphur at bottling.
With 2018 being considered an outstanding vintage in Bierzo, it had the freshness from the Atlantic and the Mediterranean summer. It resulted in an exceptionally balanced and harmonious wine. Aging is on fine lees in old French oak barrels (225L and 300L) for 11 months.
