Very much fruit-filled with noticeable wild berry aromas as well as sour red cherries, blueberry and dark plums. A hint of cinnamon, dried herbs and pine needles give this a forest floor style profile. Medium-bodied with well integrated tannins and a delicious, savoury finish.

One thing that many leading Portuguese winemakers have in common is their faith in the potential of the country’s many native grape varieties. The family-run winery of Quinta dos Roques are no exception. Bucking the trend a number of years ago when they ignored the safer option of planting international varieties, instead they focused on getting the best out of what the Dão region has to offer. They are now considered masters at creating meticulously assembled wines and were we have another great example of this.
