STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
Labelling wine from this producer as “New World” is a little disingenuous considering that the Te Pā land has been worked by the McDonald family for 800 years. The winemaking side of things though is fairly new, with the first vintage produced in 2011. It is testament to the quality of the Te Pā label that in a region with no shortage of quality winemakers, it has already made a world-wide name for itself. While Marlborough is the catch-all term for the area, there are 2 distinct sub-regions here that have their own distinct identity, the Wairau Bar and the Awatare valley. Almost uniquely, Te Pā farm exceptional sites in both. This may go some way in explaining what makes this label a standout.
