‘La Marechaude ‘ translates as warm tide which speaks to the warm microclimate created by the gentle amphitheatre of south facing slopes where the chardonnay grapes selected for this wine are grown. This allows for optimum ripening of the grapes resulting in warm inviting aromas of pear and peach and lush tropical notes of melon and pineapple. The ample fruit notes blend harmoniously with hints of vanilla, butter and pastry . With a rich, velvety texture on the palate , a wine that impressively delivers power and elegance in equal measure.
Cellaring: Now to 2030
Food Pairing: Veal escalope, Caesar salad, chicken vol-au-vents , salmon fish cakes.
The Guerrin’s estate dates from 1926 and can be found at the heart of the protected natural site between the Roche de Solutré and the Roche de Vergisson in southern Burgundy, just to the west of Mâcon. Today the fourth generation works a patchwork of 35 small vineyards spread over 15 hectares and various soil types. Respecting nature and farming sustainably with 90% of work done manually and fermenting with native yeasts are key to highlighting their excellent terroir. The ‘La Marechaude’ is arguably the most indulgent of the Pouilly-Fuisses produced by the Guerrin estate.
