STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
Château L'Escart makes two promises. To be passionate about its traditional agricultural heritage and to produce authentic wines which are drunk with the heart and the mind. Ideally located at the gateway to Bordeaux on a fine gravel and clay-limestone soil, the vineyard is spread over 37 HA, all in one block, with vines with an average age of 43 years.
The wine is a magnificent garnet red colour, which is both deep and clear. Its nose is precise, complex and perfumed. It recalls aromas of red fruit (raspberry and wild blackberry), testifying to a good maturity. The palate is harmonious, with a delicate, supple and fresh attack. It then develops substance on the palate with a wonderful intensity, an increased concentration in the particularly glossy tannins.
"An interesting combination of lush Merlot fruit with classic structure and grippy tannins that suit a bloody steak." Tom Doorley, The Irish Mail on Sunday, 04/04/21
"A youthful, intensely fruity merlot/cabernet blend with a good degree of tannin to match grilled steak." 88/100 - Martin Moran, The Sunday Times, 8th March 2021
