Country: France
Appellation: Burgundy

Marsannay is known for its rosé wines, but Domaine Derey Frères are exceptionally proud of their red Marsannay. The estate covers 20 hectares, spread over a string of climates from Dijon to Gevrey-Chambertin. The estate also includes about ten hectares in Marsannay, Fixin (1er Cru Les Hervelets, Les Clos) and Gevrey-Chambertin.

Their Marsannay 2018 has particularly been acclaimed by the Irish Press:

"Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits at a (relatively) keen price, full of raspberryish fruit with a touch of spice." Tom Doorley, Irish Daily Mail, 14th November 2021

"This is a stylish yet typically sturdy and robust, medium-bodied red Burgundy from Marsannay. The nose has intense soft red and black fruit aromas, especially raspberries, with added spicy notes. The palate is surprisingly silky, distinctly gamey, with well-integrated tannins and excellent length. Super Burgundy bargain. Enjoy with slow-cooked beef blade." Matthew Nugent, The Sun, 7th November, 2021
